MARIANA ROOT
Songs from there and here
Concerto Pela Terra

And so the girls' lamps are lit.
And so the memory of the old is illuminated and the new songs find their way.
They build bridges across time.
The voices of the ladies from here and the girls from there, together praising the land that gives us our fruit.

ROUND BALE

ANDRÉ BARATA
Earth-time

Doing nothing is to doing something as silence is to listening.  The doing that should matter is that which springs from this silent earth and which has its origin in simply being, in so many ways of doing nothing that are forms of living with a time-earth. They take care of themselves and what is involved in this being of themselves. And they involve time as if they were touching it. To begin with, we say ‘we are’; then we say ‘we do to be’. Like a time that takes root.

LILIANA COUTINHO
The speech of the adufes

Nothing that is said happens because of the existence of words, which are one of the expressive forms of continuous connection between worlds, crossing the body, between us and the earth. There are even sayings that leave words behind and which, coming from the trees, the dust, the ants, can only be translated into language understood by humans through the beating of the adufes, the sap of plants marked on fabrics, in a dance only achieved by one or two people who are versed in this art of translation.
